Narendra Damodardas Modi is the newly selected India prime minister. He was born on September 17, 1950 in Vadnagar. Modi earned his magister degree from Gujarat University focusing on political science.

Narendra Modi is a well-known figure and not a new actor in politics in India. He has gone through ups and downs in his political career. Modi has been lauded by lots of people. However, not a few of his political decisions have been hardly criticized.

Modi began his political career in the 1970s when he joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). It is a Hindu volunteer organization. This organization is believed as the mother of India governmental parties.

His long and steady experience in RSS made him confidently join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1987. Within only a year, the party appointed him the general secretary for its branch in Gujarat. His career in BJP kept ascending. In 1990, Modi participated in the party’s governmental coalition. Succeeded the party in state legislative election, in 1995 Modi became the secretary for his party. Not long after, in 1998, he was made BJP’s general secretary.

Early 2002 marked his official electoral contest. The election made him a chief minister of Gujarat. Providing speedy economic growth as well as being a competent leader, Modi was elected for the second time as Gujarat’s chief minister in the 2012 election.

His career did not stop in Gujarat. In 2013, BJP proposed him over again for the election. This time, Modi was appointed for a prime minister seat. The 2014 election won him as India’s 14th prime minister. In spite of all of his controversial political journey, he was crowned again as the newly selected India prime minister for the second time in May 2019.

The riot was triggered due to a tragedy in Godhra. A train with Hindu people inside was burnt in that city. Modi was accused of forgiving the 2002 riot. His role as a chief minister was totally questioned and criticized.
